Kingston Health Sciences Centre represents the coming together of Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital. Respectful of the history and legacies of each hospital site, we provide compassionate, patient- and family-centred care by partnering with patients, embracing education, and supporting research.‎

Welcome to our 2017-18 Annual Corporate Plan (ACP). This first Kingston Health Sciences Center (KHSC) ACP is a milestone that represents the coming together of the Hotel Dieu Hospital and Kingston General Hospital site strategies, and the commitment to providing high quality and compassionate patient- and family-centred care as we chart a new path as a health sciences center.

The directions outlined in the ACP will help KHSC to build on our foundation of strong performance as we begin to build a long-term strategy for the organization. Our new ACP will further support the bringing together of the cultures at both sites while we continue to work with our health system partners to build a sustainable, high performing regional system of integrated hospital care.

Our planning process

Our Annual Corporate Plan has been developed collaboratively with everyone who works, learns, and volunteers at KHSC. This year, the plan was put together with input from people across both the KGH and HDH sites, including feedback from clinical and administrative support staff, volunteers, patients, and families. Keeping the goals of our recent integration in mind, we drew on common priorities between the two sites to create a plan that emphasizes our continued commitment to patient- and family-centered care and enabling high performance. We have also looked closely at the results of our employee, physician, and patient surveys, risk assessments, accreditation results, quality of care reviews, and our current performance to inform our priorities for the coming fiscal year. At the same time, we are factoring in issues and changes in our environment to ensure that we can respond to the changing health-care landscape, and perform an integral role in strengthening our regional health-care system.

Communication is an important part of KHSC, and will play a vital role in the growth and development of the health sciences center. By emphasizing listening and participation, we hope to make it easier for people within KHSC and in the community to keep track of the exciting things happening at their hospital.
