I am a Patient Experience Advisor in honour of my friend, Bonnie.
I am not a healthcare professional. I am just someone who has spent time in the healthcare system with people that I love. I believe that including the patient and family perspective is essential, at the bedside to the policy making table, to creating safer, quality care for everyone. That is why I became a Patient Experience Advisor in November 2011 and why I am now involved at the provincial and national levels, bringing the patient and family voice to the healthcare conversation.
Being a patient experience advisor is about co-designing, partnering and collaborating to help make our hospital the best it can be. We are building relationships, trust and a shared desire to do things better, together!
