Synthetic stool proven to cure C. difficile, new study finds

Successful ‘Re-POOPulate’ transplants performed at Kingston General Hospital.
A synthetic stool treatment transplanted during a proof-of-concept trial at KGH has been shown to cure those who experience chronic C. difficile infections.

The results of the trial were published in Microbiome, a peer-reviewed scientific journal and were part of a co-authored study written by researchers at KGH’s Gastrointestinal Diseases Research Unit, Queen’s University, Guelph University and University of Western Ontario.
