Our foundations
Kingston General Hospital Foundation
The KGH Foundation was established in 1977 to raise and steward funds in support of patient care, teaching and research in keeping with donors’ wishes and the hospital’s needs. The KGH Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors that includes representatives from the community and the hospital.
Today, the KGH Foundation is responsible for identifying community support and funding priorities, managing donors’ support to hospital programs and distributing funds to hospital needs. The KGH Foundation also administers and invests various program and endowment funds it holds. Fundraising to benefit KGH and the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario at KGH is now coordinated through the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation – the fundraising arm of KGH, Hotel Dieu Hospital and Providence Care.

University Hospitals Kingston Foundation
The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation is the fundraising arm for KGH, Hotel Dieu Hospital and Providence Care. Created in 2005, the Foundation raises money for patient care programs, equipment, new facilities and education that benefits the more than 500,000 people in southeastern Ontario who are served by the Kingston hospitals. UHKF also supports medical and nursing research that has national and international impact.
UHKF fundraises and celebrates gifts from donors. It then transfers all funds raised to the General Member foundations at each of three hospitals (Kingston General Hospital Foundation, Jeanne Mance Foundation and Providence Care Foundation). The General Member Foundations are responsible for investing and distributing these funds, as well as for reporting to UHKF on how the funds are used.
Although UHKF’s solicitation of gifts is focused on specific priorities, it also accepts restricted gifts to all areas of patient care, research and education within any of the three hospitals.
UHKF is unique within Ontario in serving three independent health-care organizations.
