Accessibility training

In working to be more open, understanding and supportive of special needs KGH is teaching the health-care staff of today, and tomorrow, to better understand the needs of all of our patients.

We are committed to recognizing and eliminating the barriers that disabled people face every day. These include architectural, physical, communication, attitudinal, technological and organizational barriers.

Legislation in Ontario, such as the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), exists to protect persons with disabilities . As of January 1, 2010, the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, Ontario Regulation 429/07, came into effect. To oversee accessibility planning at the hospital an Accessibility Advisory Committee was formed.

Accessibility training is required for all staff at KGH and in order to complete this training, staff are required to review the following learning material.
