Virtual learning

As a member of the Ontario Telemedicine Network, we can keep you connected with over 925 member organizations across the province and beyond. KGH healthcare professionals use the Ontario Telemedicine Network every day meet with patients, participate in learning opportunities and share their expertise with their peers. Here are just a few of the ways we’re making the most of our virtual learning technology:

Clinical consults

Not only does telemedicine technology allow you to consult with off-site patients, it also lets you stay in touch with your external colleagues and meet new colleagues at remote sites.

Rounds

Telemedicine is helping us expand the scope of our rounds by making them available to off-site practitioners. It also allows you to take part in educational events at other healthcare facilities. Doctors in our stroke program currently use videoconferencing facilities to take part in stroke rounds in Calgary. KGH staff present at conferences using videoconferencing technology. Practitioners in the Cancer Centre routinely participate in case conference rounds with other hospitals. Educational opportunities are also available online through webcasts.

Networking

Telemedicine isn’t just for clinical learning. Our healthcare practitioners use it to attend corporate and administrative events, including professional association meetings and present at conferences.

Not sure how to use telemedicine? We have resources to help you get connected. Between our telemedicine advisor, our written process guide and an enthusiastic peer support network, you’ll have all the support you need to make virtual learning a part of your life.
