Because we are a teaching hospital with a mandate to educate, we strive to make sure that you have opportunities to teach and learn.
All of our attending physicians have appointments at the nearby Queen’s School of Medicine. In this affiliated environment, they pursue their research and scholarly interests as they educate the next generation of doctors.
Continuing medical education
Working at KGH affords you the opportunity to take part in the learning experiences that will support your practice and facilitate you meeting your Royal College of Physicians + Surgeons or College of Family Practice continuing professional development requirements.
Circles of Care
All KGH doctors are important members of our Circles of Care, the interdisciplinary, patient and family centred, interprofessional collaborative practice model we use throughout our hospital. As one of the first Canadian hospitals to adopt this model, we’re able to offer you the opportunity to develop your collaborative leadership skills as part of an interprofessional team.
The Circles of Care model will also help you develop your communicator and collaborator CanMeds competencies and make it easier for you to teach those competencies to your students.
Supporting you as you learn
We’re committed to developing our hospital’s educational environment to enhance your learning and your students’ learning.
We are continually upgrading our technology to ensure easy access to the information you need from anywhere in the hospital.
Libraries:
As a member of the KGH and Queen’s community, you will have full access to the services of Queen’s University’s Bracken Health Sciences Library.
Linkages:
Our partnerships and relationships with institutions in southeastern Ontario and beyond make it easy for you to access the information you need.
Simulation labs:
We have high-fidelity interactive patient simulation labs on site to help you advance your resuscitation skills and provide training and research in resuscitation and reanimation for our interdisciplinary team members.
