Outbreak of C. difficile declared over

Kingston General Hospital is no longer in a Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) outbreak. The facility-wide outbreak announced in August has been declared over in consultation with public health authorities.

Thanks to the hard work and diligence of many teams at KGH, this outbreak was one of the shortest in recent memory. By working together to ensure adherence to provincial guidelines and best practices, we were able to contain and manage the outbreak quickly and effectively.

The ongoing cooperation and collaboration of all patients, families, visitors and staff during this recent outbreak is appreciated. Keeping patients safe by eliminating all preventable harm is a priority for everyone at KGH. We ask that you continue to help us by practicing proper hand hygiene and by following all standard infection control precautions in all patient care areas.

Together, we can help ensure the health of our patients, visitors and staff.
