Teaching hospital

Because of our close relationship with Queen’s University and other educational institutions, we’re involved in teaching and research activities. That means students are an important part of life at KGH. You can count on meeting students from a range of disciplines during your stay with us.

As a teaching hospital, we train the doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals of tomorrow by having them observe and sometimes participate in  patient care.

The students who work with you will introduce themselves to you and identify themselves as students, however the responsibility for your care and treatment belongs to your attending physician.

Being a teaching hospital keeps KGH in the forefront of patient care, medical knowledge and health-related research. If you have any questions about the students or post-graduate trainees who will be involved in your care, feel free to speak with your physician or the nurse in charge.
