KGH warns public about fraudulent nursing recruitment e-mails
June 23, 2014 — Kingston General Hospital (KGH) has received reports of a fraudulent nursing recruitment program targeting nurses and healthcare assistants in the Philippines. Originating from outside of Canada, the fraudulent campaign attempts to collect registration fees from people who apply to false job postings at KGH in Kingston, Ontario.
Applicants receive a fraudulent e-mail stating that they have been selected for a nursing position at KGH and are instructed to make a payment via Western Union to attend a mandatory training session in the Philippines on July 5 and 6, 2014.
KGH would like the public to know that it is not involved in a recruitment campaign in the Philippines. It does not actively recruit nursing staff from abroad, nor does it recruit through e-mail and will never ask job applicants to send money as part of the job application process.
The matter has been reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. If you have received an e-mail or other communications similar to that described above, contact your local police station or anti-fraud agency. Do not respond to any e-mails that you suspect may be fraudulent in nature.
