TITLE Clinical Dietitian
 (1 Temporary Full-Time position)
HOURS OF WORK: Days (must be available for occasional weekends as required).


DESCRIPTION:
Member of the health care team responsible for provision of nutrition care to patients who are identified as Nutrition Care Priorities.

RESPONSIBLITIES:
• Provide nutritional care to patients who have been referred to a clinical dietitian.  This includes assessment, development of a nutrition care/education plan, implementation, documentation and follow-up.
• Act as a consultant in normal and therapeutic nutrition in specific areas of practice, ensuring that patients/clients receive appropriate nutrition care.
• Participate as an active member of the health care team through interprofessional patient care rounds and joint practice meetings, quality improvement and evaluation activities.
• Provide nutrition education as needed to patients and their families, members of the health care team, students.
• Communicate accurately, efficiently and effectively via oral/written methods with the health care team, nutrition services staff or patients and their families to ensure optimal nutritional care of patients.
• Complete daily record of activities for workload measurement statistics.
• Provide direction to dietitian assistants and dietetic interns to ensure expectations are met.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Canadian university program in foods and nutrition or equivalent.
• Practical training in an accredited practical program in Canada or equivalent
• Current certificate of registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
• One (1) year recent related work experience as a clinical dietitian in an acute care setting. 
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to cope with fast paced situations in Patient Care areas.
• Proficient with computer applications e.g. Excel, Word, Windows, Internet.
• Proven ability to attend work regularly.
• Satisfactory criminal reference check required.
