TITLE: Nutrition Assistant
(5 Part-time Positions available)
HOURS OF WORK: Rotating Shifts (includes statutory holidays and weekends)
DESCRIPTION:
Trayline assembly, distribution, proportioning, sanitation and restocking as related to patient and cafeteria service. Performs all related sanitation duties as per established procedures and WHMIS guidelines.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Sets up work station, assembles and serves food products and required articles in accordance with established standards and procedures. Must be able to maintain a set pace to complete traylines in designated times.
• Transports, distributes and retrieves food and related products to the correct patient/customer.
• Communicates with nursing units and all departmental personnel and customers in a positive and informative manner, respecting patient confidentiality at all times.
• Stores and rotates all received products in proper storage areas. Assembles requisitions for various departments in the hospital. Communicates directly to supervisor on duty any pertinent information involving product inventory levels or issues affecting quality of all products.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Current Food Handlers Certificate.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
• Demonstrated good communication skills including a polite, tactful manner.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Recent hospital or food service experience required.
• Proven ability to attend work regularly.
• Satisfactory criminal reference check including vulnerable sector search required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
