Manager- Leadership Philanthropy
University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (UHKF)
Reporting to the Executive Director, you are instrumental in developing and implementing an innovative leadership philanthropy program for University Hospitals Kingston Foundation. You will lead a team of professional fundraising and clerical staff in the portfolios of planned gifts, major gifts, corporations and charitable foundations to help enable our community to support excellence in patient care, teaching and research at Kingston’s hospitals.
As a member of the UHKF team, your responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing a successful strategy to maximize donation revenue through gifts of $10,000 or more from individuals, corporations and charitable foundations.
- Leading an annual planning and budgeting process on behalf of the assigned portfolio, and recruiting, training, coaching and evaluating the staff members working within the portfolio.
- Directly soliciting financial support from community stakeholders.
- Identifying, recruiting, engaging and managing community leaders as volunteer solicitors for the leadership philanthropy portfolio.
- Reporting program outcomes to the Executive Director and Fundraising Advisory Committee.
- Helping design the overall fundraising program in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Manager of Development, within the strategic framework defined by the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for ensuring a highly collaborative working relationship with the Manager, Finance and Administration, the Manager of Development, professional staff with responsibility for Foundation marketing and communications, UHKF Board members, executive and clinical leaders at KGH, Providence Care, and Hotel Dieu Hospital and with the management staff responsible for the operations of the Jeanne Mance, Providence Care, and Kingston General Hospital Foundations.
- In the absence of the Executive Director, serve as a spokesperson for the organization with donors and other stakeholders as necessary
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in business administration, fundraising, or social sciences.
- Masters degree preferred.
- 8 years or more experience direct involvement executing fundraising programs, including direct marketing, special events, sponsorships, major gifts and planned gifts.
- 5 years or more overseeing budgets of $1 million or more.
- 5 years or more management experience
- 3 years or more direct supervision of professional level fundraising staff
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- Strong business writing skills
- Strong project management skills
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of customer relationship management or fundraising software
- Demonstrated knowledge of volunteer management best practices
- Demonstrated knowledge of not-for-profit governance practices
