KGH Auxiliary events

Christmas Harvest Bazaar

A great opportunity to shop early for Christmas!

The annual event this year will take place on Wednesday November 30, from 9:30am - 2:00pm in the Old Cafeteria on Connell 3.

This year, instead of a lunch, we will be offering light refreshments - tea, coffee, muffins and scones - for sale.

A silent auction is another tradition at the Bazaar.  Items with a value of $50 or more are donated by our members and supporters. These are open for bids until 2:00 p.m. when the highest bidder wins the prize.  The selection of items up for bids include artwork, fine china, gift baskets and much more.

We will have our usual baked goods and candy tables consisting of homemade donated goodies, a raffle for a fantastic gift basket and a 50/50 Draw.

All proceeds contribute to our goal of providing money for equipment and services for our patients.

Golf Tournament

If you love to golf, plan to join in the fun each May to help us raise more money for our hospital.

The Millennium Fundraising committee organizes the Annual Golf Tournament at the Loyalist Golf and Country Club in Bath.

This popular event starts with a Best Ball Scramble at 1:00 p.m. and the price includes golf cart, putting contest, appetizers and dinner.  There are also many prizes to be won donated by our generous sponsors.

The 2011 golf tournament proceeds were used to fund 4 Dual chamber pacemakers for the ICU.

If you don’t golf, then please just join us for a gourmet dinner in the evening.

The 2012 tournament will be on May 16, 2012 with Alicia Gordon as the 2012 Honourary Chair.

Application forms are now available by clicking here.

Spring Fling

Each April, the Auxiliary invites bridge enthusiasts to join the Annual Spring Fling.  This event includes lunch and an afternoon of bridge – or euchre if preferred.  Mah jong has also been popular in the past.

Lunch takes place at noon, followed by bridge at 1:00 p.m.

The 2012 event will be on April 10, 2012 at the Cookes-Portsmouth Church Hall. Further details will be announced in the Auxiliary Newsletter.

Staff Appreciation Tea

For many years, the Auxiliary has been able to express its appreciation to staff at KGH by holding its Annual Tea in the Old Cafeteria on Connell 3 in February.

A splendid array of sweet treats, cookies, cupcakes, and cake, are presented for our hardworking hospital staff as well as punch and, of course, tea.  Members of the Auxiliary are on hand to pour tea in a gracious old-world manner, using silver tea services which are lovingly cleaned and polished for the occasion.

There are also many door prizes for our visitors.  These interesting and delightful items are donated by our Auxiliary members, Hair Care and our Gift Shop.

Teddy Bear Campaign

Each year in November, the KGH Auxiliary launches it Teddy Bear campaign.  A new bear is selected earlier in the year and although the bear is different each year, they all sport a royal blue ribbon and a tag acknowledging contributions in support of the pediatric program at KGH.  These bears are a cozy companion for hospitalized children in need of comfort.

All proceeds from the bear sponsorships go toward the purchase of equipment for the pediatric unit.  A charitable receipt is available upon request for the full amount of the donation, which is traditionally $100.00.  Each sponsor also receives a matching cuddly bear.  The larger sponsored bears, with tags attached acknowledging the donors, are displayed on two trees in the Watkins lobby.

Auxiliary strives to have 300 bears sponsored for distribution to our youngest patients.

The KGH Auxiliary has been very fortunate to have this campaign supported by Unity Savings and Loan which enables all the proceeds from the sponsorships to be donated to the pediatric program.
