Quality improvement is an ongoing priority that helps us continually find new and better ways of doing things so that we can enhance care for patients, increase satisfaction and achieve even better clinical outcomes.
This section contains information and documents related to:
Our Quality Improvement Plan - The Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) sets targets for improving the safety, effectiveness, access and patient-centredness of the care hospitals provide. The plan contains a number of indicators and targets for improvement as well as how those targets will be achieved and the results.
Patient Safety Indicator Reports- We are committed to providing the best and safest care to our patients and one way we do this is by conducting targeted surveillance and publicly reporting on our infection rates. There are nine patient safety indicators that are publicly reported on this website and also by the provincial government.
Patient Declaration of Values - The declaration of values, created in consultation with the hospital's community, is intended to help Ontario hospitals continue to put patients first and move toward patient-centred care by clarifying what Ontarians can expect from their health care organizations.
Hospital Accreditation – this is a voluntary process that allows health-care providers to assess every aspect of health care and service against national standards of excellence. Both our Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital sites received the Accredited with Exemplary Standing during our last Accreditation Canada surveys. Planning is currently underway for KHSC to complete an accreditation process in 2019, following Accreditation Canada standards.
