We serve patients from across southeastern Ontario who have various heart conditions and require specialized care. We hope this section of our website will provide you with the information you need as you prepare for the care you or a loved one will be receiving from the Cardiac Care program at Kingston General Hospital.
We offer a number of various programs and services, but most of the time your care journey will begin with heart tests. These tests help us understand your condition and explain why you are experiencing symptoms such as shortness of breath or chest pain. You can read more about heart tests here. Once we have been able to diagnose your condition, we offer a number of interventions, as well as typical surgical procedures to help improve your quality of life. For more information please visit our conditions and treatment page.
We work in partnership with Hotel Dieu Hospital where most of our general cardiology outpatient clinics are located. In these clinics we run medical procedures or tests that can be done in a medical center and do not require an overnight stay for recovery. Some of the specialty clinics that we run at Hotel Dieu include our Arrhythmia/Syncope clinic, Adult Congenital Heart Disease clinic, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Cardiology Rapid Assessment clinic and Congestive Heart Failure clinic.
As an affiliated partner with the School of Medicine Queen's University, we are also involved in several research initiatives including research into atrial fibrillation, ICD technology, efficient care delivery models and cardiac resynchronization therapy.
