Fire
Prevention:
Smoking:
- KGH is a non-smoking institution. Smoking
is not permitted inside Hospital property.
Violators could face a fine of up to $5,000.00.
TCA s.9 (1)
- Smoking in not permitted within 9 meters
of any entrance o a public place. The
fine for smoking within this area is $120.00.
TCA O. Reg. 613/94, s. 7.
- Hospital Security is responsible to
ensure that the above regulations are
enforced. They will forward information
to the KFL & A Health Unit (see Links
Page) who may lay charges to violators.
Hazards:
- Do not bring electrical equipment into
the hospital. If you are bringing a stereo
or portable TV for a patient, please ensure
it is a battery operated one, or it must
be removed. If you are brining in an electric
razor, ensure it is battery operated.
Emergency Procedures:
During times of emergency it is important
to remain calm at all times. The staff and
volunteers of KGH are here to assist you
in ensuring that you are in a safe and secure
environment. During these times be sure
to follow their instructions.
Upon Discovery
of Smoke or Fire:
- Remain Calm
- Locate and pull the nearest pull station
- Notify a hospital staff person right
away
- Follow all instructions from the hospital
staff and volunteers
Upon Hearing
the Fire Alarm
- Remain Calm
- Return to your room and close the door
- If you are already in your room, remain
three
- Follow all instructions form the hospital
staff and volunteers
The fire alarm will ring in the alert
stage (60 beats per minute) for approximately
2 minutes. When the bells stop this does
not mean the emergency is over. An all clear
will be announced when the hospital can
return to normal operations.
