Welcome to Medicine Care

The Medicine program is one of the largest departments at Kingston General Hospital. Don't let our name confuse you. While patients often receive medications (or medicine) while they are in hospital, we specialize in dealing with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of complex diseases. We provide care to a broad range of patients, many with multiple medical conditions.

You may be referred to the Medicine Program at KGH to be seen by our health-care teams who specialize in the areas of Asthma, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Renal and Kidney Care, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Respirology and Stroke. Many of these services offer care for both admitted inpatients at KGH and outpatients. A majority of the outpatient clinics are located at Hotel Dieu Hospital.

Our Medicine care team will work with you as a partner to ensure that your voice is heard and you are involved in all decisions about your care. Our teams are made up of a number of different professionals who will work with you to get you back on the road to recovery. If you would like more information on the types of people you will meet in the Medicine Program, please visit our care team page.
