If your doctor or nurse at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) has provided you with excellent patient- and family-centred care, now is your chance to nominate them for an Exceptional Healer Award.

KHSC is encouraging patients to nominate doctors and nurses who are innovative in their approaches to patient care, and who demonstrate exceptional bedside manner, which includes being approachable, empathetic, collaborative and respectful.

Nomination forms are available online at www.KGH.on.ca/healer. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, December 21, 2018.

This is the third annual Exceptional Healer Award. Previously patients were only able to nominate physicians, however this year nominations are now open for nurses who have gone above and beyond in delivering compassionate patient care.

Last year, 21 physicians were nominated by patients, families and staff for the award, which was originally created by KHSC’s Patient & Family Advisory Council. Dr. Shawna Johnston, an urogynecologist was named the 2018 winner while ophthalmologist Dr. Tom Gonder and anesthesiologist Dr. Richard Henry were named co-winners in 2017. The 2019 winners will be announced in January.
